Ravenshire Renaissance Festival
[May 24th, 2007]
Seneschal

During the Fruit Monument Middle School expo below, our Shire was invited to Participate in the Ravenshire Renaissance Festival, August 24th - 26, at riverbend park in Palisade. As some of you may know, SARG(Saint Andrews Renaissance Guild), was recently disbanded, but does continue on in smaller groups that Sarge was composed of. the Group known as Ravenshire is one of those groups. We have been invited to come out and display our abilities at this Festival. If you have never seen the Park, it is a very nice park, with on site restrooms, and decent shade available. We have been told that there would be no charge for us to come out, and that they would work with us on space needed both for our Festival site, and for camping, yes I said camping. Camping will be available to the merchants and groups, and is free, unless you require a hookup for an RV. I think this would be a good opurtunity to help rebuild our reputation, as well as foster a good working relationship with outher groups that really only do a few things a year.We may be able to entice them to come to our events as we hold them, and possibly allow us to be more invovled with future Renaissance Faires. Please let people know about the Festival, give them the dates and place. We will discuss our possible participation in this faire at the next Populace meeting, but I have a feeling
that most will be up for it.

Fruita Middle School Demo
[May 23th, 2007]
Acting Seneschal

The Annual Fruita Monument Middle School Medieval Times went well. We had Lord Hammar, Lady Giovanna, M'Lady Briana, M’Lady Merzanna, and myself come out and show the kids a good time. My thanks go out to M'Lady Briana, for her wonderful knowledge and items to display. We had a spattering of rain, and many joyous cry’s from the kids as Lord Hammar and I fought for their enjoyment. We had the Free Press, the Fruita Times and one other Media Outlet come out. So please keep an eye out for articles. The Free Press article can be found here. I will add others as they are found. Thanks again for everyone that came out and made this a wondrous time for the kids.

Report from the Middle Eastern War
[May 14th, 2007]
Acting Seneschal

Greetings one and all,

I have survived my trip west across the wastelands that separate us from our Kingdoms Centre. I have come back with news from the meeting I had with TRM. The event was nice, the site was beautiful, the Castle was cool. I have posted new images to the Gallery.

The meeting with TRM went well. They applauded our efforts at reinvigorating the Shire, and assured us that this is something all shires go through from time to time, the only prevent for this is to grow. They apologized for the lack of recognition and help, and explained that when the Kingdom broke off from Atenveldt, there was a big push to help out those groups north of the Kingdom centre, but because of this, the southern groups were neglected. They have vowed to try and rectify this. They explained that involvement with the Kingdom is a two way street, and though they need us to host events so that they may attend, they also need to make sure people are attending those events, or they flounder and fall away. As such TRM have stated that if we host an Event during their reign they will try their damnedest to make it down for it. Also the Crown Princess has promised that she would come to at least 2 of our events, even if it is just a fighter's practice, as long as we invite her. For those that don't know, the current Crown Prince, now resides in the Shire of Dael Beorht, just over the hill, and is our Knight Marshal's, Knight. Due to this we are in an amazing situation to bring people to this Shire, all that is needed is to host some events.

For those interested, there was also discussion of the idea of us transferring to the Kingdom of the Outlands. Basically it boiled down to the fact, that though the Outlands have shown interest, they do not want us at this time. It was explained that we need a minimum of 1 year of good activity and being active, in order for it to even be considered, after which it would take at least 6 months for the transfer to take place. Not to mention the fact that the Crown Prince cannot reside in another kingdom. What this boils down to is this it will be a minimum of 2 years before anything like this can happen. In the mean time, TRM would like the Shire to rebuild and reinvigorate itself. At the same time TRM, would like the Shire to try harder to make it to close events, and attempt to be more active within the kingdom. They also ask to keep up our relations with the Kingdom of the Outlands, and continue to travel to events where ever it is convenient to us.

I also asked and received permission to start pursuing an inter-kingdom event between Artemisia and the Outlands, structured around a border skirmish. As this is an inter-kingdom event, this will take some time to put together, the hope is that this will eventually be the big draw for us and will hopefully grow into something big. I will be looking for ideas and help with putting this together. For now, though, just keep in mind this is in the works.

Currently there are members of the Shire discussing plans of returning to the site for Loch Salann's Melee Madness, the Weekend of June 2nd. Currently the plans are in the works for the shire to travel if you would like to go, but need help getting there, camping equipment, garb, transportation, please let me know, and we'll see what can be worked out so that you can attend.

In service to the dream,
Maghnus cu Mac Faelain
